Hi everyone,
today I've finally started to fill in the DLA form that I've had for many weeks now. My care award is due to run out in a few months time. I keep putting it off as I just haven't had the energy to sit and do it and to be honest, I usually find it a bit depressing to see in black and white just how much help I need. If we didn't desperately need the money to cover the extra cost associated with my needs, I really wouldn't bother. I'm sure you know what I mean.
Anyway, just wondered if anyone knows or has noticed that the renewal form is no longer a renewal but just the same form as for a new claim? It is 5 years since my last renewal so perhaps this is the norm now or have they sent me the wrong form? What do you think? I can't ring to ask with it being Saturday.
Also in the past the form consisted of 2 distinct parts, 1 relating to care component and 1 to mobility. Since my mobility award is indefinite/ for life, I was not required to fill in that part when making a renewal claim. Now, the questions relating to each component are included in the one form. Although the covering letter states that my mobility award will continue, I think I should still fill in those questions relating to my mobility, to avoid confusion. What do you reckon?
I should apologise for the basic questions. I'm not really so thick (honest) but not too good at the moment and doing anything at all, even thinking is a effort!
Thanks for any advice

Hi Diane

I don't know the answer to this but I think I would be inclined to fill in the lot and hope for the best. Don't they make life difficult at times? RollEyes

Still, it's Monday tomorrow, perhaps a phone call? Sorry, I am absolutely no help!

My son, Ian, completed the BUPA Great North Run on 15th September running for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS). You can read his story at http://www.justgiving.com/ianlukewilson

Hi again,
I did ring yesterday and was told no, I don't have to fill in the questions relating to mobility. At least that's a few pages less! However, the lady said there probably wont be enough time now to process the form before my current award runs out....apparently its taking a lot longer than the target of 11 to 12 weeks.
Still working my way through the form, there's so much I need assistance withSad...makes me wonder a bit why I'm not on a higher rate.
Diane xx
